Dreams of Freedom: Kalayaan event to mark Anti-Slavery Day 2025

On 18 October 2025, Kalayaan marked Anti-Slavery Day with a joyful community gathering that celebrated the courage, creativity, and voices of migrant domestic workers whose hope continues to inspire change.

We were delighted to be joined by London Assembly Member Hina Bokhari who spoke passionately for the resilience and joy in the current political climate. Hina will be launching a London Assembly Motion on behalf of migrant domestic workers who are at risk of slavery and trafficking in London.

The room came alive as members of Kalayaan’s Campaigning Group shared art, poetry, and reflections, expressing their hopes for change and their own dreams and passions. Members for the Community also performed a restorative dance co-created with The Natasha’s Project, as everyone moved and reflected together in a shared feeling of release and rejoice.
